The old ductwork had a pull chain damper that was not functioning properly. While trying to repair I decided to remove and replace with this type of mechanical damper.I didn't read any directions which I usually regret but not this time. I used my own self tapping screws with damper in the open position to center it best and screwed into place with my impact. I used a long flat head screwdriver as my "key" to open and close. Now I can close off a bedroom that is rarely used and not wasting money paying to heat or cool square footage until needed. If I have a guest over then I can go open the vent. The plastic screw in the center and overall build is impressive. Would buy again.I thought I saw the lip needed to install the damper in the grill/diffuser. It was not what I needed. Amazon refunded my money and did not ask that I return the damper. The idea of the butterfly damper is a a very good idea. You should first go to YouTube and view how to install this type of damper. That is where I found the one I really needed to buy. It just isn't on Amazon.Nice heavy gauge steel, paint job and welds were flawless. Dropped into ceiling grid without fuss. Amazon did not overpack the manufacturer’s carton, hence it arrived damaged.Received product damagedIt's a butterfly for a diffuser what else is there to say.The nylon adjustment tool fits too loosely stay in, but otherwise they work OK.Nicer in appearance when looking above than the old circular ones. Installation wasn’t too difficult.Previously purchased model with circular mounting flange, did not fit the 2' x 2' diffuser in my office. Not only did this one fit, the mounting tabs fit into slots in the diffuser, and locked in place without screws, just tapped in with a hammer and screwdriver, works perfectly,
